sunshine and gardens

Yesterday was a day of sunshine and gardens. Firstly The Walled Nursery in Hawkhurst, which we had been meaning to visit for a while. It’s a lovely spot full of history and charm; a Victorian walled garden with the original glasshouses, which the owners are spending a great deal of time and money trying to restore alongside running the nursery. We browsed the plants, met the resident cats and admired the collection of restored vintage tools they have for sale. They also have a tea and cake point with an honesty box, which I’m sure we’ll make use of on our next visit.

Then, after a quick pit stop for some lunch it was on to Great Dixter, where the drifts of blue and white crocuses looked like lovely pools inviting us in for a paddle.
