Winifred’s Daughter

It was wet here on Saturday; the kind of dull autumn day that’s best spent on the sofa with the weekend newspapers and a cup of tea. So it was nice to have some jobs to do that involved being indoors. The best of these was taking some cards across to Winifred’s Daughter, our first stockist.

Winifred’s Daughter is owned by Shelley, who I met at the Kilndown craft fair. We’ve passed it many times on our way through Hawkhurst but we’ve always been going somewhere else, so I was looking forward to actually going in and having a look.

Strung with bunting, the windows were a welcome burst of colour on a very grey day.

Inside, Shelley has created a lovely, colourful space full of well chosen stationery, gifts and homewares. Highlights for me were cards by Tom Frost, Nancy Nicholson’s decorations and sewing kits, some lovely handmade jewellery and a good mix of vintage pieces.

Among all this is Shelley’s own range of homewares, made on site from her incredible stash of vintage fabrics and trims.

I really could have stayed all day. And of course I am chuffed to bits that our cards have found such a nice new home.
